Crown 8vo (7.5 x 5 ins) pp [xviii], 325 + [vi], 346, [2] Both titlepages present but only the half-title in vol I. Six engraved portrait plates including two frontispieces, as called for, four with tissue guards. Presentation inscription from the author, "with the author's compliments" on the half-title. Apart from light tanning to outer areas of the plates and the initial tp, this is an extremely clean and fresh copy in an attractive later binding.
