Add to basketNumber 777 in a Signed Limited Edition of 1000 numbered copies. Quarto, pp., [14], with 50 full-page tipped-in plates with decorative border and captions to backing leaf, of which 38 are photogravures and 12 are hand-coloured silver gelatin prints. Descriptive text and small line drawings to facing leaves. Publishers' gilt calf, with bevelled boards in decorative embroidered silk with titles and chinese characters in gilt. Leather surface scuffed with loss to gilt and slight wear to corners; boards lightly rubbed. Author signature to limitation leaf, without dedication; pinhole to Limitation leaf and title page presumably from removed paper-clip. A little scattered light foxing, and a few leaves corner-creased; 2 backing leaves torn at fore-edge (approx 3 cm) but plates unaffected and all plates in good order. A Very Good copy. Fifty photographic studies, with descriptive notes, of China's Great Waterway, the Yangtze Kiang. Mennie (1875-1944), the Scottish businessman and photographer, was proposed as a member of the Royal Geographic Society for the quality of this work. Scarce.
