A first edition, first printing published by Lutterworth Press in 1977. Signed by the author with dedication which reads " To Steve Whitehead, with all best wishes. Patrick Moore, 1983 May 20". A near fine copy with slight offsetting to the rear free endpaper. Clean and bright internally. Some slight bumping to the spine tips. In a like unclipped wrapper which shows slight spotting to the flaps and slight wear to the edges. Moore's authoritative study of the red planet from the earliest theories to the 'Viking' landings. Lovely illustrations and photographs throughout. Seller Inventory # 14517
