First edition, number 29 of 100 copies on hand-made paper, signed by the author; 8vo; spotting to front endpapers, publisher's taupe-coloured buckram ruled and lettered in gilt, a few small spots, else near-fine; matching slip-case. A short prose text, first published in French in Les Lettres Nouvelles the same year, it evolved from the longer work, All Strange Away. It is consistent with Beckett's preoccupation with cylinders and closed spaces in his work of the 1960s and explores 'the theme of the dying imagination yet conscious of its own activity'.
