First UK Edition. SIGNED & INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR. Publisher's pale blue boards with black lettering to the spine and front board. Dark blue end-papers. A tiny patch of fading to the spine otherwise a bright and clean near fine copy (with mild foxing to the early and late pages of the book). The dustwrapper is a fine example with no tears, wear or pieces missing. Inscribed by the Author to the title page: "For Alice & Bill Wood/ with compliments of/ Gavin Holt/ and most gratefully &/ affectionately from/ Charles Rodda". Charles Rodda was the "real name" of thus author but he also wrote detective fiction under the pseudonym Gavin Holt. As Charles Rodda he collaborated with Eric Ambler in their joint Eliot Reed novels.
