23.5 x 18.5cm. Hardcover in original yellow titled cloth, 190pp. Text in German. This is the first edition of the important monograph on the Russian abstract artist's theories on line and form which influenced the Bauhaus movement, with curious provenance. Signed and dated 1927 in pencil on half-title page by German lawyer Robert Servatius who later represented high-ranking Nazis (including Adolf Eichmann) at the Nuremberg trials. Also bears an ink inscription from Servatius dated 1929. Some discolouration and spotting to cloth covers, and splitting to gutters on page 190, and between title-page and preliminary. Scuff to edge of front board, corners slightly bumped. Internally good. Rare.
