INSCRIBED by the author in black ink to contents page: 'Presented to the Museum at Maidstone | by the Authoress, Lady Jennings | 12 June 1903.' Publisher's brown pebble-grained cloth, with gilt title and decoration to spine and upper. Recently re-backed, with the original spine laid over, and the original navy-coated endpapers. Twin armorial and illustrated bookplates of Lady Jennings and her husband, John Rogers Jennings (1820-1897), to front pastedown. Blind stamp of Maidstone Public Library to title page, otherwise no further library markings. Toning and wear to original spine, now restored to an attractive, robust condition. Very good.
