Signed limited edition, Bagnold's own advance copy, out of series from an edition 400 copies signed by the author, and with her blank headed postcard loosely inserted. This copy is additionally inscribed by the printers on the title page, "For Enid, with much love and thanks from John and Rose", and the rear panel of the slipcase is faintly lettered "Enid's Copy" in pencil. The Whittington Press was founded in 1971 by John and Rosalind Randle. Friedman 9. Large octavo. Mounted frontispiece after watercolour portrait of the author by C. Lovat Fraser, 4 mounted plates. Original reddish orange floral-patterned cloth, spine label, photograph of the author mounted on front cover, printed facsimile endpapers, top edge orange, the rest uncut. Housed in original brown slipcase. Contents lightly foxed and marked; slipcase gently rubbed: a near-fine copy.
