Eight volumes, all First Editions, published 1974-1982. Edited by Caroline Moorhead & Lucy Moorehead. Octavos. Black cloth covered hard boards, all with dust jackets. All volumes except 5 & 6 have endpaper maps as called for. All jackets are un-clipped, volumes 1-7 have all been re-priced with a sticker (£18.95), volume 8 has the original £9.95. Volume 1 is SIGNED by the author in black ink to the half title page. These letters cover sixty five years of Stark's life and travels and provide insight into the journeys and thoughts of one of the greatest and most adventurous of twentieth century explorers. Freya Stark most notably travelled in western Iran in the early 1930's, locating the long fabled Valleys of the Assassins, and in southern Arabia in the mid 1930's travelling more extensively in the Hadhramaut than any previous Western visitor. All eight volumes are in just about Fine condition in Fine dust jackets. A lovely set, enhanced by the Author's signature to Volume One. Seller Inventory # B2486
