First UK Edition. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON THE TITLE PAGE AND SEPARATELY INSCRIBED ON THE FRONT FREE END-PAPER. Publisher's ochre-coloured boards with brown spine lettering. A near fine copy in like D/W. Inscribed by the Author on the FFEP: "For Kay and Harry/ With thanks for a happy evening/ from/ Robin/ 24Nov65". Additionally signed by the Author above his crossed-out name on the title page. The basis for the 1953 British movie "The Intruder" directed by Guy Hamilton set in Post War London and starring Jack Hawkins, George Cole, Dennis Price and Michael Medwin (as a good fellow "gone wrong").
