Son las memorias de Jean Baptiste François Bidel (Rouen, 1839- Asnières, 1909) fue domador y propietario de un zoo, o más exactamente casa de fieras, con animales exóticos. Vivió una infancia muy difícil junto a su madre y su padrastro el domador italiano Upilio Faïmali. En 1866, debutó con un mono, dos caimanes y una boa constrictor, y con los beneficios compró más animales, entre ellos un león, ?Saida? A partir de la década de 1870 empezó su éxito imparable por toda Europa; actuó para Víctor-Emmanuel, rey de Italia, Alfonso XII, rey de España, en la exposición universal de 1878, etc. En 1886 tuvo un grave accidente con su león Sultán. A principios de siglo, supo aprovechar las ventajas del cine y preparó unas sesiones de un viaje por todo el mundo presentando los animales exóticos en sus países de origen. Circo.
