Item description from seller

Inscribed and dated by the author on the title page. "In this preliminary survey thirty-eight graves were found in three locations in the Churchyard: the main burying ground to the north of the Church and smaller burial plots on either side of the Sanctuary." Each is photographically documented and described in detail with much genealogical information and regional history. Built in 1894, probably on the site of an 1826 church, the Church of the Holy Ascension is significant as the site from which missionaries brought their religion to the local Aleut people. Octavo: 48 p. with numerous color photographs and a few maps. Original pictorial paper wrappers. A fine copy.
