Original blue cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine and front board. An INSCRIBED UK first edition, first impression. No wrapper. The book is clean and tight. The front and back boards are generally clean. The spine is very slightly faded and shows a touch of gentle of bruising at the ends. The spine lettering is bold. The pages are clean - the endpapers are spotted. The uncut closed page edges are bright. The binding is tight - no loose pages. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. This copy has been INSCRIBED by the Duke of Portland - in pencil - to the ffep. The inscription reads : From Portland, Wishing you a very happy New Year. January 1st 1936. A better than usual copy.
