First edition; 8vo (22.5 x 14 cm); signed inscription to front endpaper, 24 photographic plates including cut plate to front board, map as frontispiece; publisher's original green cloth, gilt lettering to upper board, a fine copy. Inscription reads 'With my best wishes, R.J. Minney, London 25 May 1925'. Born in Calcutta, Rubeigh James Minney (1895-1979) was a journalist, playwright and film producer, whose filmed included 'The Wicked Lady' with Margaret Lockwood. He travelled extensively as a pastime and this trek through the Himalayas was undertaken at the relatively young age of 26. Setting out from Darjeeling, he travelled up through Sikkim to the borders of Tibet reaching Nathu La. Rare, with very few ever appearing commercially and this the only recorded inscribed copy. Butterworth & Co. had offices in London, Sydney, and Winnipeg, but this was printed in Calcutta with the printer being 'K.C, Neogi, Nababibhakar Press, 91/2, Machuabazar Street, Calcutta'.
