First edition, signed by the author on the front free endpaper, from the collection of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts, with his posthumous bookplate. This adventure story set in 18th-century England and Italy was Mason's penultimate work. Octavo. Original blue cloth, titles to upper board and spine in black. With dust jacket. Bookplate of one Randle Leslie Abbot. Extremities a touch rubbed and bumped, edges lightly foxed; jacket unclipped, shallow loss to spine ends, tiny chips to flap folds, a little creased: a very good copy in like jacket.
