First edition, one of 150 copies, this numbered 149 on the justification and signed in pencil by the artist and author on the half-title, folio (48 x 40 cm); complete with nine lithographs in colour after Vasarely, each signed in pencil, text in French and plastic overlay in German, loose as issued, silver endpapers; original black cloth with design in blue after Vasarely, plastic dust jacket printed in white, in the original printed box, box stained otherwise a fine copy. A wonderful example of Michel Butor's avant-garde text Octal, illustrated by Victor Vasarely with 9 original signed lithographs. Butor was a French poet and novelist whose experimental style of writing won critical acclaim in the 1950s. He was awarded the Grand Prix by the Académie Française in 2013. Seller Inventory # 113340
