Photographing in public spaces, he began to investigate the small details of posture and body language, capturing the subjects' particular way of holding their bodies as reflections of their inner life. In his characteristic black and white, Goldblatt's close cropped perceptive and sensitive view of his subjects allows their anonymity to be humanising. One hundred signed copies of the Particulars were supplied with a choice of four gelatin silver prints of photographs from the original twenty-seven in the book. This copy is paired with a print of Woman Collecting Shellfish.
