The sole UK printing published by Oxford University Press / Humphrey Milford, Oxford & London in 1930. The BOOK is in Near Fine condition having been protected by the chemise. Large folio. Quarter gilt parchment and red cloth, gilt titling and decoration to the front cover, with top edge gilt. Free from inscriptions. The limited issue, this copy being number '62' of only 105 numbered copies, specially printed on handmade paper, and signed by the artist to the limitation page. There were also five hundred trade, unsigned copies on mould-made paper. The thirty-two plates with interleaves bearing caption texts are present. Twelve of the collotypes incorporate colour. The scarce original thick card chemise, with a red cloth spine and a printed label attached is present and is in Very Good++ condition. Slight loss to the upper front corner, a closed tear horizontally across the back portion and slight rubbing in places. The chemise is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. The book is housed in the publisher's original slipcase which is a little marked in places. In 1926 Craig was asked to design a production of Ibsen's 'The Pretenders' for the Royal Theatre in Copenhagen and by abandoning traditional scenery the huge stage , he achieved extraordinary effects with lighting.
