This copy is neither signed or numbered. Hardback, quarto; bound in cloth, with panelled sections in different colours, gilt title. xxx, 36 pages. 7 b&w illustrations. English. 285x225mm. 0.6kg. Very good; some rubbing to boards and spine, slight dustiness to top edge, small remains of stick to front pastedown. 'The ominous picture on your nursery wallhas oftern made you wonder what might allthose clustered roofs ascending up a hillwell cover in of good or sad or ill.' In Reading into the Picture Edward James provides the reader with a lengthy introduction and parts one and two of an epic poem. He indicates that there will be a 'Part IIIIII before the action can have run its full course.' The text is illustrated with line drawings by Jorg (Yorck) von Reppert-Bismarck. He and his wife Jack are perhaps best known for providing two of the circus figures in Cecil Beaton's Circus Bedroom at Ashcombe.
