About this Item

Description:

First edition, privately printed, signed by the 37th President on the front free endpaper, and with a loosely inserted slip, stating that the copy, "from the author's private edition, is one of a limited number being sent to the United States' Medal of Honor winners and Vietnam POWs - Americans who have served their country, and the cause of real peace, far beyond the call of duty". In Real Peace, the former President outlined his view of how lasting peace can be secured between the Soviet Union and the United States, achieved through the US taking a much more assertive position with its military and economic power. This private edition of September 1983 was followed by a public edition in January 1984. Octavo. Original blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. Unclipped jacket somewhat rubbed: a fine copy in very good jacket. Seller Inventory # 178535
