Signed presentation inscription from the author "to my very good friends Royston and Ann Millmore, con amore John Braine" on front free endpaper, lightly browned, original cloth, spine faded, foxed. In the very good dust wrapper with wrap-around band (lightly spotted, spine toned), jacket spine head a little frayed, spine very lightly faded, still very sharp and fresh overall, 8vo, 1957.
