Item description from seller

Later edition. Two volume set. Handsomely bound by Bayntun of Bath in emerald green half calf with raised bands and charming hunting devices in gilt to spines; top edges gilt; bindings signed. Frontispiece lithograph of a sculpted bust of Cobbett from side-on in vol I. Without old inscriptions etc. A fine set. The first edition (in book form) was issued in 1830 and is now revered as a masterpiece of political journalism. The work was based on tours across Britain made on horseback and first published as a series of letters in the Political Register, the weekly periodical Cobbett established in 1802 and ran until his death in 1835.
