Add to basket[6], 7-93pp, [1]. Original boards, no jacket, decorative endpapers and fourteen colour plates. Slightly rubbed to extremities, corners lightly bumped and rubbed, colour panel of Mr Tod to upper cover with small abrasion leading to loss of colour on his face, small split to foot of upper joint. One or two spots of light foxing to text, stitching slightly weak, with some cracking to rear joint but holding well, internally fairly clean. First edition, first or second printing (see below). Half title inscribed by the author, 'For Lizzy Airey in "Mr Tod's" kitchen with love from Miss Potter, Oct. 17th [19]12'. The kitchen of the Sun Inn in Hawkshead was the inspiration for Mr Tod's kitchen, and Lizzie Airey was the landlord's daughter. Now housed in a custom made drop back box by Temple Bookbinders, with the upper cover design replicated on the cover of the box. Linder, page 429, noting that the two issues dated 1912 are believed to be identical; Quinby 21 Size: 24mo.
