(London: Stanley Paul n.d. [1947]). First UK Edition. Publisher's red boards with black lettering to the spine. SIGNED & INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR IN THE YEAR OF PUBLICATION. A near VG copy (slight spine slant, very soft spine tips, minor marks to the boards). The VG (or better) dustwrapper is un-priced (possibly an export copy) and has a little minor edge-wear and creasing to the top edge. The fragile dustwrapper has lasted the test of time very well. Inscribed by the Author to the front free end-paper: "To Mavis & Bill/ from Joyce & Tom/ When Brian's a/ wee bit older let him/ have this book/ Sep. 10th 1947/ Uncle Tom". Superb period cover art.
