[Literary correspondence] Typed letter signed, addressed to Dr. Clifford E. Case, reading "Delighted to autograph your copy of "Goodbye Mr. Chips"b if you will send it to the above address. I may be away for a few weeks, and inaccessible to forwardings so please understand the delay that may occur if it arrives after my departure. Yours sincerely James Hilton." One sheet of headed note paper, signed in black ink, trimmed to bottom edge (13 x 16cm). Presented mounted in a grey cloth-covered diptych case, with gilt titles to spine. Fine condition. The author's most famous work, Goodbye Mr. Chips describes the modest life and adventures of beloved public school teacher Charles 'Chips' Chipping. Basis for the 1939 Oscar-winning film starring Robert Donat and John Mills.
