Add to basketMark Severin was the son of Fernand Severin (1876-1931), a poet. Described as one of the most outstanding engravers of his generation, Mark Severin specialised in fine miniature work, including postage stamps and book illustrations. He made close to five hundred bookplates, of which a great number are on erotic subjects. His ex-libris designs are among the most collectable in the field. This was the first of two bookplates Severin designed for Jeanne Rasdolsky; the oher, of a centauress in wooded scenery, was made in 1981. He also designed three bookplates for her husband Jacques Rasdolsky between 1978 and 1987. She was a fellow countryman and passionate collector of bookplates. Dimensions of paper is 172mm x 115mm and the image is 92mm x 82mm, framed size 270mm x 242mm. Made using stipple engraving, signed by artist Framed, float + deep sunk.

Our Abebooks profile is listed via my Australian Business. However the book store is not based in Melbourne. We are based in Cape Town, South Africa. This is due to payment issues on Abebooks side for South African banks. This was a solution Abebooks and we came up with together to bypass the Payment gateway issue for right now. All our other selling platforms correctly displays our place of origin as Cape Town, South Africa. Shipment takes place from Cape Town South Africa.
