Add to basketpp.viii, 201 with wonderful col. illus. by Mee throughout. 4to. Fine softback with some gentle sunning. From the library of Prof. Grenville (Gren) Lucas OBE, much loved botanist and conservationist. With the inscription To Gren, all the best on a wonderful occasion signed by Cynthia Mitchell, one of the two exhibition sponsors. The title page is also signed by Margaret Mee s husband, Greville Mee and there is a further signature which we can t decipher. Furthermore, Prof. Sir Ghillean Prance (who wrote the Preface and a chapter within this work) wrote To Gren, Thank you for all you have done to organise this book and to promote Margaret Mee at Kew, Ghillean Prance . Lastly, at the end of her Acknowledgements, Ruth Stiff wrote To Gren, We have done it indeed! I am so pleased and so grateful. What a team we make! Ruth . A wonderfully unique copy. This volume was published to support the exhibition Margaret Mee : Return to the Amazon held in the USA between 1997 and 1999. Gren Lucas, (then Keeper of the Herbarium and Library at Kew) was the person behind the concept of the exhibition and as she explains in her Acknowledgements was an invaluable help and provided unstinting support to Ruth Stiff, the Curator. Gren also wrote the Introduction to this book.
