Sammy Davis Jr. was part of his dad's singing group the Will Mastin Trio from a young age. In 1949 he started recording blues songs for Capitol Records under pseudonyms. His breakthrough came, when the trio performed at the nightclub Ciro's in 1951, where the crowd loved him. In 1959 he became a part of the Rat Pack group with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
