About this Item

The original artwork and text for Hall's award-winning book for children, published by Jonathan Cape in 1982. Comprising 16 pages of drawings (pen and ink on paper, 32 x 25 cms.) plus double-page layout plan, portfolio of 7 pages of "additional drawings" and 6-page typescript of the text. [Together with] 28 pages of finished full-colour artwork (ink and gouache on paper, mostly 30 x 25 cms.) for an unrealised children's book entitled `An ABC of Bogies and Beasties'. [Together with]12-page illustrated autograph manuscript mock-up for an apparently unpublished short story about `The Perfect Princess', accompanied by an autograph letter signed to Tom Maschler (one page, Paisley, n.d.[February 1975]): "Dear Tom, This wee story, I wrote very quickly since I saw you in London . It started off slowly, but the last three or four pages I scribbled down very quickly in order to get the thing finished." Hall had attracted attention for the Tarot deck he created for the James Bond film `Live and Let Die' (1973). Pages (27 x 18 cms.) taped together to make a landscape gate-fold format, with tape-marks to page-edges requiring de-acidification but in very good condition. [Together with] portfolio of 12 pages of illustrations (pen and ink on paper, 32 x 25cms) for a project entitled `The Knight Who Lost His Head: The Head's Tale'. Seller Inventory # 20282
