Octavo 6x5 inches- bound in a most unusual binding by Gruel, signed in print at the base of the spine. Full blind embossed morocco with a central image of the Tree of Jesse, front and rear board, effectively an representation of the genealogy of Christ from King David- David at the base and Virgin and Child at the top of the tree. Surrounds of an elaborate blind of vines. Plain spine, twin metal clasps, all edges gilt. In good condition. 704 pages including title all with elaborate wood engraved borders in the style of French medieval manuscripts and printed prayer books of the 15th century. A very pretty volume.
