Limited edition. Signed by the author. Full brown faux leather with gilt titles to the spine, handbound by Adam McLean. Illustrated throughout with a black and white frontispiece by Matthieu Merian, reproduced from his 'Iconum Biblicarum' (1630) and 14 full page black and white reproductions of woodcuts from Albrecht Durer's 'Apocalypse' series (1498). An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with a touch of rubbing to the corners, the contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Issued in an edition of 250 copies, from which this example is numbered 217. Signed and dated '14th December 1981' by the author of the introduction Adam McLean in black ink on the limitation page. The 10th volume in the the 'Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks' series. Adam McLean writes 'Jane Leade was a late 17th century English mystic of great importance, whose writings have been much neglected. She worked within the esoteric stream initiated by Jacob Boehme, although her writings draw upon her own independent mystical visions. In this early work she interprets the Book of Revelation, finding there sources of inner inspiration, a spiritual alchemy, rather than Apocalyptic hell fire and millenialist destruction'.
