68pp. Contemporary gilt-ruled sheep-back marbled paper boards. Rubbed, chipping to head and foot of spine. Without fre-endpapers, later inked ownership inscription to head of title. The third known copy of a compendium of Christian doctrine intended for juvenile instruction. As the prefatory remarks state, the alterations in this edition have been made 'in conformity to a Resolution of the Synod of the Church of Brethren, held in the year 1818', and are here 'for the first time published in an English translation'. Furthermore, it is stated those ministers charged with educating the Brethren's congregations, for which this summary is primarily intended, need not 'adopt the precise method here suggested, but are at liberty, either to retain it or chose another, which may appear to them more convenient and better adapted to the capacity of Youth'.
