Synopsis

Excerpt from A Monograph of the Freshwater Univalve Mollusca of the United States: Including Notices of Species in Other Parts of North America

Cilia of authors, which term, however, was preapplied, and is still used, for hairs or bristles of a certain character. My friend Professor Bailey, an acute microscopist, approves of the term I have proposed for these Vibratile organs.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book bridges gasteropod study into the present day, by expanding on the author's research, and thorough examination of the subject. The author presents their own viewpoints, as well as compiles the research of many other major authors in the field. The book is specifically concerned with the sub-order of aquatic, air-breathing mollusks with a single pair of triangular tentacles, tracing their evolution, habitat, and their place within the broader field of zoology. The author's hope is that this work will further the advancement of knowledge in this specific field, and will encourage others to pursue further research.
