Synopsis
This book seeks to outline a system of theology based on a more rational exegesis of the Holy Scriptures than has come down to us from the dark ages. The current state of religious thought is explained as being in a moral revolution with the common people repudiating pseudo-orthodox Christianity as it is represented by Protestant sectarianism. The author believes that it is the Bible that will break down and disintegrate narrow theological conceptions and that a revised edition of the New Testament will further this process. The author's aim in this book is to present a theology that harmonizes with a rational interpretation of the Scriptures while sustaining and vindicating their divinely constructed and supernatural character. Many of the standard theological teachings in Protestantism are held to be unreasonable and un-Christian, so this book attempts to set forth a more Christian system of theology based on a broader, more Catholic and more Evangelical exegesis of the Sacred Writings.
