Aussi ces souvenirs pourraient - ils à juste titre être admis comme des Mé moires historiques, si leur contenu, plus spirituel qu'important pl us gracieux que grave, permettait de leur donner ce nom. Tels qu 115 sont, ils intéresseront je l'espère, la société nouvelle, en lui présentant un tableau réel de la vie intime et de la vie du monde avant 1789. Nous avons sur cette époque, peu derécits aussi détaillés et aussi scrupuleusement exacts que celui - ci. Il ne m'apparlient pas de louer à l'avance cette oeuvre de famille; le lecteur jugera.
