In one or two of the earlier chapters, the Writer has ventured to transfer, but always either in an abridged or expanded form, descriptive extracts from some of his own former Volumes, especially in connection with events associated with the Sea of Galilee. These might indeed have been entirely recast, but it is with an Author as with an Artist, the freshness and vigour of a first sketch is often lost by reproduction.
