Synopsis
This book presents the central doctrines of the New Church, a new dispensation of religious truth claimed to have been revealed through Emanuel Swedenborg. The author sought to lay open the spiritual sense of the Divine Word and simultaneously reveal the realities of the spiritual world. This book lays out a central doctrine that God as the Divine Being is innite in wisdom, tenderness, mercy, and love; He is love itself and the source of all love in heaven and on earth. God is not a partial, unjust, selsh or vindictive Being, rather He is an ever-present, loving Father, full of tender, patient love. Seeking the highest good of all creatures, He has pursued our race through ages past, guiding it with wisdom and undiminished love. The author argues that his love is altogether unselsh in nature, eternally seeking the welfare of others and finding its delight in imparting itself and its joys.
