Synopsis
This book argues that the enslavement of African people in America is an unjust practice that violates natural rights and must be abolished. The author contends that enslavement is no more justifiable than paying laborers less than a living wage. The author further argues that while the condition of enslaved people may be better than that of poor laborers in some respects, such as access to food and shelter, they are ultimately deprived of their freedom and dignity. The author concludes by proposing a series of reforms to improve the treatment of enslaved people and to work towards the ultimate goal of abolition.
