I have the honour to submit, herewith, the Third and Final Report of the Geological Survey of Natal and Zululand. Further contributions to the palaeontology of the East Coast of Africa have kindly been furnished me by Mr. R. It includes contributions from notable scientists such as Robert Etheridge Jr., George C. Crick, William B. Scott, Robert Broom, and Arthur Smith Woodward. These paleontologists provide detailed descriptions and analysis of Cretaceous fossils from the Umsinene River deposit in Zululand, documenting the presence of reptilian remains in the Beaufort Beds of the Umkomazan River in western Natal, and examining the fish remains from the coal measures of the Somkele Coal Field in Zululand, and Cretaceous rocks at the Umpenyati River in Natal. Additionally, there are reports on the geology of Alfred County, the Hlabisa and Somkele Districts, the Drakensberg Mountains, and the discovery of marine fossiliferous rocks of Tertiary age in Zululand, signaling the first discovery of mammalian remains in the area. The book concludes with an appendix listing additions to the library of the Geological Survey during that time period. These findings contribute to the understanding of the paleontological history of the region and provide valuable insights for further research.
