Ich habe mich bemuht, der Bearbeitung dieses Themas das Studium der wichtigsten Abhandlungen zu Grunde zu legen und auch die Casuistik, soweit es in meiner Macht lag, zu berücksichtigen. Die Monographie Bernhardt's, welche im Jahre 1881 erschien, hat die bis da. Vorliegende Literatur in nahezu erschöpfe°nder Weise gewürdigt und verwerthet; ebenso hat N othnagel in seiner topischen Diagnostik die Lehre vom Hirntumor unter dem Gesichtspunkte der Localisation mit gediegener Gründlichkeit bearbeitet. Auch die Darstellung, die Wernicke in seinem Lehrbuch der Gehirnkrankheiten von den Hirngesehwülsten gegeben hat, ist eine so umfassende und zeugt von so grosser Erfahrung, so origineller Auffassung und Beleuchtung des Gegenstandes, dass sie einen weiteren Markstein in der Geschichte dieses Leidens bildet.
