Synopsis

Excerpt from Matteo Civitali, Sa Vie Et Son Œuvre

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is an exploration of the life and work of the Italian sculptor Matteo Civitali, a major figure of the Early Renaissance. The author traces Civitali's career from his early training in Florence to his mature masterpieces in his hometown of Lucca. Through a detailed examination of Civitali's sculptures, paintings, and architectural designs, the book reveals his unique blend of naturalism and idealism and his mastery of both large-scale public commissions and intimate devotional works. The author also explores Civitali's role within the broader context of the Italian Renaissance, examining his relationship to other artists of his time and his influence on the development of Renaissance art. Ultimately, the book offers a comprehensive and insightful portrait of a significant but underappreciated artist whose work continues to captivate and inspire.
