Ueberzeugung, im Ganzen sey die'hier durchgeführte Ansicht von den Psalmen allein richtig und haltbar für mich zur Gewifsheit gesteigert. Mag auch der oder jener Hypothese, die hier auftritt, der gewünschte Beifall entstehen; möge ich auch hin und wieder Ein zelnes zurücknehmen müssen ich habe auch hier einige Male in frühern Schriften ausgesprochene Meinungen gewechselt. Die kritischen Principien aber, die sich mir schon so viel und mannichfach in der Anwendung bewährten, sind durchaus dieselben geblieben. Ich be finde mich noch immer auf dem Standpunkte, welchen mir der Anzeiger des Herrn Tholuck so naiv als ei nen dogmatischen vorwirft, dafs ich nämlich Dasjenige, dessen Unmöglichkeit ich nicht beweisen kann, wel ches also vielleicht möglich ist, darum noch nicht für wahrscheinlich oder für wahr halte; und ich bitte Gott, dafs seine Gnade mich auf diesem Standpunkt erhalten wolle. S Nicht mehr als billig aber wird man den Wunsch finden dafs über Schriften zur Kritik nur Solche Öffentlich das Wort nehmen möchten, welche in Dingen der Kritik zu eigenen Erfahrungen gelangt sind, oder wenigstens das Licht der Untersuchung nicht überhaupt hassen. Auf das Urtheil der Mitarbeiter in seinem Felde wird der Kritiker aufmerksam hören, doppelt aufmerksam wenn nicht nur den Gründen Gründe, sondern den auf sie gestützten Hypothesen andere desgleichen entgegengesetzt werden.
