This book is an analysis of a century's worth of malacological research centered on the mollusks found in the region of the Bay of Along, spanning from 1851 to 1951. The author takes an in-depth look at two families of these mollusks: the Corbiculae and the Naïades. In doing so, the author questions the validity of many species established by earlier researchers, some of whom proposed as many as 52 distinct species within those two families where the author argues only 7 actually exist. The monograph also compiles the work of previous researchers and corrects errors that had propagated through the literature, resulting in a valuable single source that future malacologists and interested individuals can rely on.
