Synopsis
This book provides a detailed and richly illustrated account of the artistic life and work of Max Koner. Born to Prussian parents in Pomerania, Koner's artistic career had humble beginnings, but he eventually became a famous portraitist of German high society and royalty, including the German Emperor Wilhelm II. The author traces Koner's early passion for drawing, his training at the Berlin Academy of Art, and the artistic influences that shaped his style, from the Barbizon school to 19th-century Prussian classicism. Through its analysis of Koner's paintings, drawings, and other works, this book offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of German art and society during a period of great social and political change.
