Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the distinction between true benevolence and selfishness, aiming to dispel the notion that self-love is the driving force behind all human actions. The author argues that disinterested benevolence, or the pursuit of good for its own sake, is a real and essential virtue. The book draws on a range of philosophical and theological perspectives, examining the nature of ultimate ends and the complexities of human motivation. It challenges the idea that our own happiness is the sole purpose of our actions, and offers a compelling argument for the existence of a higher, more selfless kind of love. By clarifying the distinction between benevolence and selfishness, this book provides a deeper understanding of virtue and vice, and its insights have significant implications for our understanding of Christian morality.
