Dialogo tantam esse similitudinem cum dramate, ut non solum quasi ex eodem fonte profluxisse videatur, sed etiam ratione, qua postea excultus sit, quodammodo cohaereat cum illo, Hirzel in libro, quem eximia subtilitate ao doctrina de dialogo conscripsit, accuratius ostendit.1) Ac praecipue dramaticorum, quod dicitur, dialogorum genus 2) aptissime comparari potest cum tragoediis vel comoediis: personae enim ut in scaena inter se loquentes prodeunt, quarum ex verbis nomina, mores, ingenium ipsarum non minus quam cetera, quae opus sunt ad argumentum operis intellegendum, cognoscuntur, neque raro etiam actiones adumbrantur, ut iam antiquitus dialogos in modum fabularum actos esse 3) non ḿreris. Huiusmodi ornatum ab ipsa dialogi natura alienum insto iure scaenicum vocari, quippe quo cuneta fere legenti ofi'erantur, quae spectatori in' scaena videre licet, quis est, qui infitietur?
