A Veleétion of fentences, in which variety and proportion, with ghaét punctuation, have been carefully obferved, in all their parts as well as with refpeé't to one another, will probably ha,vea much greater efi'eét, in properly teaching the art of Jeading, than is commonly imagined. In fuch confiruétions, revery thing is accommodated to the underfianding and the Qvoice and the common difficulties in learning to read well, are obviated. When the learner has acquired a habit of 1 reading fuch Tentences, with jnfinefs and facility, he will 3i apply that habit, and the improvements he has made, to fentences more complicated and irregular, and of a con.
