Synopsis
This book presents a survey of therapeutic and diagnostic applications of X-rays and Finsen rays in the early 1900s. Following the groundbreaking discoveries of Finson and Röntgen, the author was commissioned by the medical faculty of the University of Havana to investigate the latest advancements in phototherapy and X-ray technology across Europe before establishing a dedicated facility in Cuba. The book details his observations, including the setup of specialist departments, the variety of treatable conditions, the latest equipment, and the techniques employed at leading institutions such as the London Hospital and the Finsen Institute.
