Besuch bei Madame Condorcet. Sie hat vor mehreren Condorcet. Jahren einen Roman entworfen, von dem der Plan ganz fertig ist, aber nur etwa 80 Seiten geschrieben sind. Die Hauptidee davon ist der Contrast der Liebe eines Wilden und eines civili sirren Menschen in dieselbe civilisirte Frau. Sie hat aber, wie sie sagt, das Project aufgegeben. Als die Stael mit Narbonne in Staeh Verhaltniss gewesen ist, hat sie sich ungeheuer tremoussirt, ihn immer zugleich beim Konig in Gunst und mit den Patrioten in Freundschaft zu erhalten. Sie hat Sieyes, Condorcet und einige andre der Gironde zu Narbonne zu Tische gebeten, aber immer selbst gesprochen, ohne Narbonne reden zu lassen. Sie ist so beschäftigt und verwirrt gewesen, dass sie einmal der Condorcet in Gegenwart 1) des Mannes von dieser und einiger andern nach Tische gesagt: Vous ne m'enleverez 1543 Mr. De Narbonne, Madame. Dann ihr die Hand gefasst und hinzugesetzt: je suz's öz'en az'se de Vous avoz'r dit cela und von Decreten und Politik, wie vorher, weiter gesprochen. Voriges Jahr hat sie vor vielen Personen bei Talleyrand am Tische, als Constant neben ihr ge sessen, und von Buonaparte die Rede gewesen ist, gesagt: Eh! Comment est-il fossz'öle que je ne sez's pas ne'e pour é'lre la femme de Buenaparte. Es war noch eine Madame la Chaise bei der Con Weber.
