I molteplici errori, che m' appar vero anche dal primo esame som mario, mi persuasero che di que ste edizioni non si poteva tenere alcun conto: confusione di nu meratura dei vari manoscritti, er rori di attribuzione, nessuna pre cisione di rubriche e, più che tutto, mancanza di un chiaro me todo di selezione di codici e di rime e di varianti. In errori, non pochi e non lievi, caddi anch' io nel publicare le rime di Guido Cavalcanti e colgo questa occasione per iscusarmi si che non si creda ch' io abbia peccato per disprezzo di un me todo serio e scientifico. Alcuna volta forse si potè pensare che la mia edizione non fosse accertata.
